HARTFORD, Conn.–Hartford Municipal Employees Federal Credit Union will introduce a new name to its members and community after the turn of the year.
The credit union will be known as Cencap Federal Credit Union effective in January.
The 66-year-old CU said it is moving to the new name and branding to position itself for a broader audience of potential members, as it now has a community charter for anyone who lives, works, prays or learns in the Hartford area.
According to the CU, the name "Cencap" reflects the credit union's central location within Connecticut (CEN) and its roots in the state's capital city (CAP).
The $57-million CU has 9,000 members.
