WEST ALLIS, Wis. — The $3-billion Guardian Credit Union has named Steve Heiderer president and chief executive officer following the retirement announcement earlier this year of longtime CEO Kevin Nitka.
Guardian Credit Union said its board of directors launched a comprehensive national search for Nitka’s successor, appointing a special CEO Search Committee to work with the credit union’s human resources team and executive search firm MRA.
The committee was led by Rose Bartkowiak, chair of the HR Committee, and included Darci Middaugh, chair of the Supervisory Committee, and John Bosbous, vice chair of the board. After evaluating both internal and external candidates, the committee presented its recommendation during a special board meeting, where directors unanimously selected Heiderer for the role.
Heiderer brings 17 years of experience with Guardian Credit Union, where he has held several executive leadership roles.
