Guardian CU To Sponsor College Game That Kicks Off 2017 Season

MONTGOMERY, Ala.–Guardian Credit Union here has signed on to be the title sponsor for a college football game that will kick off the 2017 season.

The Guardian Credit Union FCS Kickoff will involve two teams from the Football Championship Subdivision (FCS), which is for teams that are from four-year institutions that are not part of a football conference.

The game, set for Aug. 26 at 5 p.m. CST, will feature Jacksonville State University against University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, two of the top 15 FCS teams last year with Jacksonville State finishing No. 6 and Chattanooga finishing No. 10 in the FCS Coaches Poll. The game will be played at the Cramton Bowl and be broadcast live on ESPN.

In 2016 Guardian Credit Union was a sponsor of the Raycom Media Camellia Bowl, Montgomery's only college football bowl game.

The Guardian CU deal now means credit union-sponsored games will bookend the 2017 college football season, as San Diego County Credit Union recently announced it will sponsor the Holiday Bowl, as CUToday.info reported here.
