Group Of Navy FCU Workers Split $2-Million Lottery Prize

PENSACOLA, Fla.–More than 30 Navy Federal Credit Union employees here have some extra money for their savings accounts.

The 33 workers won a $2-million prize in the Florida Lottery that, when divided, comes to approximately $45,000 per person. After taxes.

Navy Federal employee Regina Spence collected the prize on behalf of her coworkers. Spence told the Pensacola News Journal that the office only purchases tickets as a group a few times per year, and in this case bought 33 tickets at $3 each at a local Circle K store.

"I sent photos of all the tickets to one of my coworkers and about 20 minutes later he said, 'I think one of these is a match,'" Spence told the News Journal. "I stared back and forth at the ticket and the lottery page online and said, 'This can't be true.' Both of my roommates were telling me it was legit. I literally hit the floor and cried."

Had the group of Navy Federal workers also selected the number 12 for the Power Ball, they would have been splitting $570 million.

Spence reported that most of the Navy Federal employees have relatively modest plans for their winnings.
