NORTH LIBERTY, Iowa –GreenState Credit Union said it is partnering withTrees Forever on a three-year initiative during which a new tree will be planted for every new member that joins the credit union.
This initiative, titled Grow Green, is to launch in 2020. Trees Forever is an Iowa-grown non-profit that seeks to “plant and care for trees and the environment by empowering people, building community and promoting stewardship.”

‘A Little Greener’
“With our new brand, we feel this is an excellent opportunity to make our green state a little greener,” commented Jim Kelly, GreenState’s chief marketing officer, referring to the new name selected by what the CU formerly called University of Iowa Community CU. “Based on past performance, we project to add roughly 60,000 members over the next three years, so we hope for a meaningful impact.”
“We’re delighted to plant trees on behalf of new members of GreenState Credit Union, continuing our long partnership,” added Shannon Ramsay, president/CEO of Trees Forever, in a statement. “Trees provide an amazing package of benefits—not only for humans but for all life on planet Earth. Trees Forever will focus on native trees in strategic locations for improved air and water quality, wildlife habitat and recreational areas such as parks and along trails.”
The $5.8-billion GreenState CU has approximately 200,000 members.
