Great Lakes CU Getting Set to Introduce ‘Olive’ to its Membership

BANNOCKBURN, Ill– Great Lakes Credit Union said it is set to introduce “Olive” to its membership. Olive is a call center bot that leverages conversational AI to route calls, conduct phone banking transactions, and decrease member wait times, the credit union said.

Great Lakes CU said it partnered with Silicon Valley-based interface.ai to create the new service.

“Members expect a simple banking experience regardless of which channel they choose,” COO Elizabeth Osborne said in a statement. “By introducing Olive, the newest member of the GLCU team, we’re providing that experience for our members and also empowering our employees. By using Olive to help with simpler requests, we’re freeing up our employees to use their skills to assist with more complex transactions.”

Olive, who comes to life on August 23, is just the latest in a series of technology investments made over the last few quarters by the credit union.

GLCU noted it recently invested in Janusea, a fintech that provides a “universal core translator.”

Additional Solutions Coming

In addition, the $1.3-billion GLCU said it has also partnered with Access Softek to enhance members’ digital banking and online account opening experiences, and has engaged with fintech DoubleCheck Solutions to provide members more options and transparency around NSF and overdraft fees.

Those solutions will roll out in late 2023, according to GLCU, which noted it is also an investor in the Curql fund, the credit union-owned venture capital fund.

Great Lakes CU has approximately 80,000 members.
