Gold U.S. President’s Volunteer Service Award is Presented to Credit Unions

MADISON, Wis.—The National Credit Union Foundation has accepted a Gold U.S. President’s Volunteer Service Award for the 2021-22 school year on behalf of credit unions.

Gold recipients are recognized for providing more than 6,000 hours of volunteer service to Junior Achievement USA (JA), an organization that connects youth with financial literacy and career readiness resources. Awards were presented during the JA Volunteer Summit in Washington, CUNA reported.

This is the seventh year in a row credit unions have been recognized as Gold recipients, others at that level include Deloitte, JP Morgan and Chase, Metlife and other large corporations, CUNA said.

‘Part of Credit Union Difference’

“It’s an honor to accept this award on behalf of credit unions who dedicated so much time over the last school year to help youth start with a foundation of good financial habits,” said Gigi Hyland, executive director of the Foundation. “This work is part of the credit union difference, and we’ll continue to deliver resources and information to help build a financially healthy generation of members,”

The U.S. President’s Volunteer Service Award is a presidential recognition program created by the President’s Council on Service and Civic Participation for individuals and organizations who contribute a significant amount of time to volunteer service.
