RICHLAND, Wash.—Gesa CU is now the official credit union of the Tri-City Americans hockey team.
Under terms of the deal the $1.6-billion Gesa will issue a red Americans-themed Visa debit card to members. It also will donate $2 to the Americans’ Players Education Fund for every goal saved during a game.
The partnership recently generated an $84 contribution when the Americans, who play in the Western Hockey League, recorded 42 saves during a 5-4 overtime loss to the Portland Winterhawks.
The CU also has affinity debit cards with several local high schools.
Richard Waddle, Gesa’s senior vice president for marketing and finance, told the Tri-City Herald it took about six months to negotiate the sponsorship deal with the Americans. Waddle said the partnership reflects the credit union’s ongoing commitment to support family friendly entertainment.
