EL PASO, Texas–GECU has become the official credit union of athletics at the University of Texas El Paso (UTEP).
Under the new agreement, the GECU “Pickaxe Rewards” credit card will continue to be available to GECU members. The university’s mascot is known as “Paydirt Pete.”
In addition, the credit union said it is also working on “new and exciting” opportunities to bring members of the community to support UTEP athletics. Among these plans is the GECU Terrace, located directly under the press box at the Sun Bowl that is set to be completed by the 2020 football season.
“GECU is proud to announce that we are the official credit union of UTEP athletics,” said GECU President and CEO Crystal Long. “This is an outstanding opportunity to continue our long-standing relationship with UTEP and we are thrilled to bring innovative ideas to create an unforgettable experience for our community. Our collaboration with UTEP has been ongoing for many years and we are passionate about the future of UTEP athletics.”
GECU is a “Pillar Partner” with the university and has sponsored a number of other related events.
