OCEANSIDE, Calif.—The $1.7-billion Frontwave Credit Union has reported a data breach involving member names and Social Security numbers after one of its service providers inadvertently disclosed non-public information to another credit union, according to a notice filed with the California Attorney General’s Office.
The California AG’s breach portal lists the breach date as April 3, 2026, with the incident reported April 28, 2026.
In its notification letter, Frontwave said it learned April 3 from a service provider that member information, including names and Social Security numbers, had been disclosed to another credit union.
Frontwave said it is not aware of any actual misuse of the information and said the incident was isolated. The credit union said the other credit union that received the data has deleted it.
The credit union is offering affected members 12 months of complimentary Experian IdentityWorks identity protection, including credit monitoring, identity restoration support and up to $1 million in identity theft insurance.
