Free Membership, Rummage Sales All Part Of Int’l CU Week

SALEM, Ore.–Credit unions across the country continue to engage in numerous activities to mark International Credit Union Week.

Among them:

  • To celebrate International Credit Union Week, Maps Credit Union in Salem, Ore. is offering free membership at each of its nine branches during the week. The credit union typically charges a $10 membership fee. In addition to the free membership, Maps is also offering free cookies at its branches on International Credit Union Day, Oct. 20, and offering free door prizes.
  • In Lihue, Kauai, Kauai Government Employees FCU is doing something different every day. That includes a rummage sale, the proceeds from which will benefit the Kauai United Way. The rummage sale was joined by a staff-created bake sale as well as free blood pressure checks administered by Bayada and representatives of the Kauai Police Department, who met credit union members and visitors to talk about how to keep from being a victim of crime.
