WASHINGTON–Freddie Mac reported net income of $1 billion during the second quarter, which is down slightly from the same period one year earlier.
But Freddie, which is still operating under government conservatorship, will still pay a dividend of $933 million to the U.S. Treasury next month.
Overall, Freddie Mac has paid $99.1 billion in dividends to the government, far in excess of the $71 billion provided by the government when it bailed out Freddie Mac during the housing crisis nearly a decade ago.
