Four Former Umpqua Bank Branches to Open As STCU Branches Today

SPOKANE, Wash.–Four former branches of Umpqua Bank will open as branches of STCU today following acquisition of the facilities and their customers/members by the CU.

The credit union saidbranch employees have accepted positions at STCU, so staffing will not change. The deal closed on Dec. 4.

STCU reported it spent the weekend changing signage and making other adjustments at the branches at Medical Lake, Ritzville, Coulee City and Othello, Wash. ATM access was restricted over the weekend, as Umpqua ATMs are swapped out with those operated by STCU.

“The conversion provides a convenient branch experience for existing STCU credit union members in rural communities, while bringing more than 5,000 Umpqua customers into the STCU family,” the credit union said. The converted branches will be STCU’s first locations in Lincoln and Grant counties, while bolstering its presence in the growing West Plains area west of Spokane, it added.

The acquisition received approved last week by NCUA, after earlier being  given the OK by the FDIC and Washington State Department of Financial Institutions.

The $3.8-billion STCU has more than 215,000 members following the acquisition.
