SANTA FE, N.M.–Four credit unions—Del Norte CU, Columbia CU, Elevations CU and First Service CU—have all been recognized as some of the best places to work.
Del Norte Credit Union here was named to Albuquerque Business First’s 2015 Best Places to Work. Organizations that earn a spot on this list are done so via anonymous working satisfaction surveys taken by company employees and administered by Quantum Workplace. The winners create environments that attract top talent and set the standard for loyalty and productivity.
“It is wonderful that the employees of Del Norte Credit Union have such a strong positive working experience. It is meaningful that staff feels valued and respected, and that certainly reflects into the way our members experience Del Norte Credit Union,” says DNCU President/CEO Chuck Valenti.
Some highlights from the survey include: 92% are proud to work at the CU; 97% understand how their jobs help achieve success; 98% are always thinking of ways to do their jobs better; and 96% are loyal to immediate team or work group.
In Vancouver, Wash., Columbia Credit Union has been awarded with the “Award for Workplace Excellence” by Peter Barron Stark Cos. (PBS) based on the results of an employee survey conducted in 2015. The biannual surveys measure employee engagement and job satisfaction. The 2015 survey was completed by 256 of the CU’s 277 employees for a 92.4% response rate. Only organizations that achieve an overall favorable response exceeding 80% win the award and Columbia Credit Union is now a six-time winner.
The 2015 survey included 112 questions that were divided into 16 categories. On average, Columbia Credit Union performed 5.9 percentage points better than the “Best of the Best” benchmark for each of these categories and comparable questions. Results were compared from over 300 well-known businesses throughout the United States (including financial institutions) and more than 100,000 employees. With an overall increase of 0.3 percentage points in favorable scores in 2015, Columbia Credit Union continued to improve upon its already strong performance from the 2013 survey.
“We are extremely pleased with the results of our most recent survey,” said Columbia CU President and Chief Executive Officer, Steve Kenny. “This survey confirms our high levels of employee engagement and job satisfaction both of which support our mission of providing exceptional service. What’s more, it clearly identifies Columbia Credit Union as not just one of the best financial employers in the United States, but one of the best employers across all industries.”
In Houston, First Service Credit Union has been named as one of the top 100 places to work in Houston, according to the Houston Chronicle's 2015 Top Workplaces employee survey.
For the third consecutive year, First Service was named one of the top 100, ranking 20th out of the top 50 midsize employers in Houston.
More than 260 companies were nominated for the prestigious award, which recognizes the best places to work in Houston, the nation's fourth largest city, with a population exceeding six million.
SCU was selected through an employee survey conducted by Workplace Dynamics, which then identified the Top 100 companies. First Service was selected based on survey results that ranked the credit union on its executive leadership, opportunities for professional advancement, work conditions, benefits, and workplace flexibility.
The top 100 awards are given in three categories: large companies with 500 or more local employees, midsize companies with 150 to 499 employees, and small companies with 50 to 149 employees. First Service has 171 employees and 13 branches throughout the Houston area.
"I am privileged to work with the best group of people in Houston," said CEO David Bleazard. "They come to work every day dedicated to making a difference in our members' lives, which is what working at First Service is all about."
In Boulder, Colo., Elevations Credit Union has been named a Best Company to Work For in Colorado by the Colorado Society for Human Resource Management (COSHRM). Elevations was honored at the COSHRM Celebration Awards Banquet as the 5th place company in the large category (250 employees or more).
