Four Credit Unions Announce Plans To Become Two

FORT WAYNE, Ind.–Four credit unions have announced plans to become two as the result of mergers.

The $283-million Partners 1st FCU said it will be absorbing via a merger the $84-million General Credit Union. Together, the two credit unions will have approximately 36,000 members. The move still awaits a vote by the 9,000 members of GCU.

Meanwhile, in Moline, Ill, the $600-million Vibrant Credit Union said it has begun to merge in the $27-million IntegrUS Credit Union across the river in Dubuque, Iowa.

“We’re excited about the partnership with Vibrant and for the opportunities that this will bring to our members,” said Jonathon Miller, IntegrUS’ current president and CEO. “With security, service and technology all at the top of mind, we want to make sure that our members are given the best financial experience available. Right now, IntegrUS is looking at the future and knows for that to happen, we need to make a change. By partnering with Vibrant our membership will strictly benefit from the broader services and products, additional security and enhanced experience Vibrant has to offer.”

The merger is expected to be completed by year-end.

“Vibrant is happy to share our state of the art technology and one of a kind culture with new additions to our staff and membership,” said Matt McCombs, president and CEO of Vibrant CU. “We strive to create an exciting experience for both members and employees and we’re excited to extend this to the Dubuque community.”
