DES MOINES, Iowa–JoAnn Johnson, the former chairman of NCUA who is now superintendent of the Iowa Division of Credit Unions, announced she will be retiring effective May 30.
“JoAnn has been a tremendous asset to Iowa credit unions and their over one-million members,” said Gov. Terry Branstad, who named Johnson to the post in February 2011, in a statement. “She has used her expertise at the national level to provide a safe regulatory climate for credit unions to operate and succeed. I wish her all the best as she spends more time with her family.”
Johnson was elected to the Iowa Senate in 1994, and appointed to the NCUA board in 2002, and then served as chairman from 2004-08.
