LANSING, Mich.–Ken Bixby, the former CEO of the Michigan Credit Union League, has passed away.
Bixby joined the league in 1982 as its managing director and was soon named CEO, a title he maintained until his retirement in 1996. Prior to joining the Michigan league, Bixby had worked for NCUA. The league said when Bixby arrived in 1982, the national economy was in rough shape, and the former CEO is remembered for maintaining MCUL’s financial health even when the nation’s future was uncertain.
“MCUL joins the Michigan credit union community in mourning the loss of longtime colleague Ken Bixby,” said MCUL President and CEO Dave Adams. “We express our heartfelt condolences to Marge and the rest of Ken’s family and friends. Through his long and dedicated credit union career, Ken made a big impact in our Michigan community and nationally.”
Bixby is survived by Marge, his wife of 62 years; their four children: Karen, Chris, Kathy, Greg, and nine grandchildren: Katrina, Steven, Adam, Eric, Megan, Stephanie, Brian, Ryan and Joel. He also leaves behind seven great grandchildren: Everlee, Alyssa, Cailynne, Ryan, Halie, Caitlynn and Salvadore.
