Former Credit Union Employee Enters Guilty Plea

WHEELING, W.V.–A former credit union employee here has entered a guilty plea in federal court for embezzling money from a Weirton credit union.

Michelle K. Martin, 45, pled guilty to taking more than $82,000 from Strip Steel Community Federal Credit Union, according to U.S. Attorney Bill Powell.

Martin’s plea is for one count of theft, embezzlement or misapplication by credit institution employee, Powell’s office said, adding the crime was reported to have taken place sometime between October 2016 and May 2017.

Martin faces up to 30 years of incarceration, as well as a fine of up to $1 million.
