MUNCIE, Ind. — A former credit union employee here has pleaded guilty to stealing money from members.
Samantha Underhill, formerly of PrimeTrust Financial FCU, accepted a plea deal admitting to taking as much as $17,000.
According to police, in one instance Underhill, who was arrested in August 2022, admitted to taking $1,200 from a member’s account because she feared she wouldn’t have enough money for her mortgage payment. Underhill did return the money, but was fired in May 2022. Afterward, however, investigators quickly discovered she had taken significantly more money, having stolen another $16,800 from various accounts prior to that.
Underhill has received a three-year suspended sentence, and must also complete 50 hours of community service in addition to paying restitution.
