Former CU Exec Is Charged With Embezzlement

WHEELING, W.Va.—Kathleen Gramlich the former executive director at the $5.7-million Ohio County Public Schools FCU, was charged in federal court Thursday with embezzlement.

Gramlich, 65, allegedly stole more than $156,000 from the CU and used the funds to pay personal debts between June 2013 and March 2016, YourOhioValley.com reported.

Gramlich faces up to 30 years in prison if convicted. The court said it will also seek an order that Gramlich make full restitution, YourOhioValley.com reported.

As CUToday.info previously reported, the suspected embezzlement first came to light in March after it was confirmed by an auditor from the West Virginia Credit Union League. The credit union’s board of directors then hired Steptoe and Johnson to conduct an initial investigation before federal officials became involved.
