BELEN, N.M.—Louisa Gabaldon, 42, a former employee of Belen Railroad Employees CU, has pleaded guilty to a federal bank fraud charge.
The pleading follows a 12-count indictment that was issued in 2013 by the U.S. Attorney's Office in Albuquerque. According to prosecutors, Gabaldon’s plea agreement requires her to pay $118,376.56 in restitution to cover losses associated with all 12 counts in the indictment as well as related losses suffered by the credit union.
Prosecutors said Gabaldon made withdrawals from member accounts, transferred funds, and opened new loans in members’ names. Gabaldon faces a maximum penalty of 30 years in prison at her sentencing, which hasn't yet been scheduled.
