AMARILLO, Texas — Dorothy Stegall Barnes, who is also known as Dorothy Stegall Newman, a former employee of Pantex FCU, appeared in federal court and pleaded guilty to one count of embezzlement from a federally insured credit union.
Barnes, 56, faces a maximum statutory penalty of 30 years in federal prison, a $1 million fine and five years of supervised release. Sentencing is set for Dec. 8.
The indictment alleges that from approximately September 1996 through December 2010, Barnes, AVP of teller operations at Pantex FCU, embezzled approximately $826,000 from the credit union.
