REDWOOD CITY, Calif. ––Digital Insight said it has entered into an agreement with EyeVerify to offer Digital Insight customer financial institutions EyePrint ID for a password-free mobile banking experience.
By using the camera on mobile devices, EyePrint ID technology takes an image and pattern-matches the blood vessels in the whites of the eye, eliminating the need to remember and thumb type a password. EyePrint ID will be in limited availability to Digital Insight customers in Spring 2015.
“Digital Insight customers can affordably implement EyePrint ID into their current mobile banking applications, giving users instant and secure access to bank data and services,” said Digital Insight. “For financial institutions, it requires no additional software or hardware and can eliminate the high costs associated with resets, lockouts and password-related customer care calls.”
Digital Insight said the new solution was developed as part of its Innovation Lab, which has also been doing work in biometrics, geo-fencing and location-based services.
“The largest impediment to mass adoption of mobile banking continues to be concerns around security,” according to Al Pascual, director of fraud and security, Javelin Strategy & Research. “Providing conspicuous, robust biometric security to mobile banking will inspire greater trust among consumers.”
