For Halloween, Some Ghostly Tales From One Credit Union

BOOVILLE—As Halloween arrives, one credit union in the Northeast reports several tales of terror, but none more ghastly than a very spooky letter to the CEO from a member.

“This summer I received a registered mail delivery that cost the member $20 to send and he only had a $5 savings account,” the CEO said. “It looked like an official document where he was asserting that he was no longer under the jurisdiction of the U.S. currency and laws. It was signed, notarized and then sealed with his own blood.”

Those working late at night at the cooperative are prime candidates for run-ins with the unknown—or the undead—the CEO told CUToday.info.

“One foggy night a member of our cleaning crew was looking out one of the windows, and it was 2 a.m.,” the CEO said. “He happened to look out one of the windows and on the other side was a woman, dressed in a fancy Victorian-style dress—just looking back at him.”

The worker was “scared to death,” until he finally realized that was a dressmaker’s shop and it was a mannequin.

‘Silently Staring at Them’

“There was another time when the cleaning crew was working into the dead of the night,” the CEO recalled. “It was about 3 a.m. They turned around to see a little girl, about five or six years old, standing there, wearing a dress and holding a stuffed animal, silently staring at them. Both men jumped about a foot in the air. Turns out one of the employees forgot something and had to come in to get it, and brought his children with him.”
