Following Tornadoes, Ohio CU Foundation Distributes Funds To CUs, Members

COLUMBUS, Ohio–The Ohio Credit Union Foundation reported it distributed $30,000 in disaster relief grants to credit union and members in the Dayton, Ohio, area following tornadoes that struck the area over Memorial Day.

The grants will assist with costs such as insurance premiums, replacement of lost groceries, and transportation. The board expects more grant proposals will follow in the next several weeks. To ensure grants will continue to be provided, Corporate One Federal Credit Union also donated $25,000, the Foundation reported.

“Our Ohio credit union community is strong, and this strength is only magnified when disaster strikes,” said the Foundation’s Executive Director Kim Connor. “Many credit union members and employees lost their homes, vehicles, and businesses. Thanks to the collective generosity of the Ohio credit union movement throughout the year towards the Ohio Credit Union Foundation, we were able to respond immediately to the needs of those credit union members and employees affected by the storms.
