NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - Langley Federal Credit Union has opened a handicap-accessible ATM at the Hampton VA Medical Center.

Just like its other 52 ATMs, the new machine is surcharge-free to members.

Langley FCU said it received the ATM request from the Hampton VA Medical Center in response to the needs of the disabled veterans who reside at or are served by the hospital. The main champions for the new ATM came from the veterans themselves and in particular, Earl Thornton, who is the Chairman of the Spinal Cord Injury Resident Counsel. It was Thornton who escorted the Langley team around the center, demonstrating the need for handicap accessibility to the ATM.

"This was a perfect opportunity for Langley to make a difference in the lives of those who so willingly served their country," stated Langley Senior Vice President Deb Vollmer. "We were so moved by our tour of the facility. And Earl was very persuasive!"
