FLINT, Mich.–Flint Area School Employees Credit Union has changed its name. It is now called Sovita Credit Union, which it said in a statement better reflects its member commitment.
Since being chartered 84 years ago, Sovita CU has expanded its field of membership to include healthcare workers in five Mid-Michigan counties, where anyone who works in the education or healthcare industries in Genesee, Lapeer, Livingston, Oakland and Shiawassee counties in Michigan is eligible.
The new Sovita name combines the Latin words meaning "social" and "life,” according to the credit union, adding the name can be translated from Latin to mean "the life of the community.”
The Sovita brand identity will launch July 2 with a new logo and website.
