Five Mainers Are Recognized For Their Contributions; Board Officers Elected

PORTLAND, Maine—The Maine Credit Union League has presented its Annual Awards to five individuals who, combined, have nearly 150 years of experience being involved with Maine's credit unions.  

"These individuals are committed and work tirelessly on behalf of their credit unions and, in many cases, all of Maine's credit unions. The Annual Awards are an opportunity to recognize some of these outstanding individuals," remarked Richard Dupuis, chair of the league's Annual Awards and Convention Committee.

The 2015 Award recipients are:

  • Alexander Ferguson Award for Outstanding CU Volunteer - Marc Doyon, chairman at TruChoice FCU, who has served on the CU's board for more than 25 years, and was praised for "mentoring others and his tireless work on behalf of the credit union's members." 
  • Jeannette G. Morin Award for Outstanding CU Employee - Nancy Blodgett, Otis FCU, who is retiring in June after 38 years of working for the credit union. The league reported that one co-worker called Nancy "someone who will be difficult to not have in the workplace. She is such a great resource to us all." 
  • Rick LaChance

    James M. Gratto Award for Outstanding Credit Union CEO - Roger Sirois, president/CEO of Atlantic Regional FCU, who has been with the credit union since 1986 and its president/CEO since 2008.  The MCUL said he was honored for being a “strong, involved and progressive leader.”
  • League President's Award - Kyle Casburn, president/CEO of Seaboard FCU. In presenting the Award to Casburn, League President John Murphy called him "bright, articulate and willing to tackle the tough issues.  He is a great CEO and a great volunteer on the Maine CU League's Board." 
  • Diane L. Oceretko 'People Helping People' Award - Donna Ketchen, VP at Penobscot County FCU, who will  also retire this year after 20 years at the CU, and who was recognized for her "commitment and passion of helping others, especially her work and involvement with the Maine CUs' Campaign for Ending Hunger." 

Meanwhile, the Maine League Board also elected its 2015/16 table officers. Elected unanimously by the board to one-year terms for the following positions were:  Chair - Jim Lemieux, president/CEO of Sebasticook Valley FCU; Vice Chair - Rick Lachance, president/CEO of Connected CU; Secretary - Kyle Casburn, president/CEO of Seaboard FCU; and Dave Desjardins, president/CEO of Acadia FCU.
