COLUMBUS, Ohio—Five CEOs of credit unions serving law enforcement in Ohio came together here in April to take a photo to show support for their members.
The CUs will use the photo during National Police Week, May 15-21, displaying it throughout their offices. One of the credit unions is also running an auto loan special this week with rates as low as .99% APR.
In 1962, President John F. Kennedy signed a proclamation which designated May 15 as Peace Officers Memorial Day and the week in which that date falls as Police Week, explained Becky J. Landis, CEO of State Highway Patrol FCU here. Tens of thousands of law enforcement officers from around the world will converge on Washington during Police Week to participate in a number of planned events that honor those who have paid the ultimate sacrifice, she said.
“National Police Week is a time to reflect on the sacrifices and selfless commitments that all of our law enforcement officers make daily,” said Landis. “These men and women are the ones we turn to for direction, support, and protection when it is needed most. The boundless respect and appreciation we feel makes us truly thankful for what they do every day. It is our honor for us at the State Highway Patrol FCU to provide them with financial services needed to complement their personal lives.”
“On behalf of the Cleveland Police Credit Union, I want to extend our heartfelt gratitude to the men and women in law enforcement and their families,” said Yolanda Roland, manager of Cleveland Police CU in Cleveland. “We proudly respect, honor, and serve those who put their lives on the line to protect us and our families. It has been an honor and privilege to serve our police officers for over 75 years.”
“We have proudly served our area law enforcement officers and families in the greater Cincinnati area since 1935,” said Barbara Harper, CEO of Cincinnati Police FCU in Cincinnati. “On behalf of the staff and our volunteer board, I wish to express our deeply felt gratitude to all of our police officers for keeping our communities safe.”
“National Police Week is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate our member’s dedication to keeping our cities safe,” said Ryan Hieber, CEO of Toledo Police FCU, Toledo. “However, we really should be thankful for these individuals all year long. Society sometimes forgets that these are the people that keep the problems of the world from reaching our doorstep. These are the people who have pledged their lives to keeping us safe and they deserve everyone’s support.”
“I marvel at the sacrifices our police officers make every day to protect us and yet still can't comprehend what their families endure knowing each ‘have a good day at work’ just might be their final goodbye,” Jeff Carpenter, CEO of CME FCU, Columbus. “We at CME are honored to have the privilege of serving those that serve us.”
State Highway Patrol FCU is also running a loan special this week to honor its members. Called the "We've Got Your Back Loan Special, SHPFCU is offering new auto loan rates as low as .99% APR and used as low as 1.99%.
