AURORA, Colo.–The $176-million Fitzsimons Credit Union has named its new CEO.
Robert “Bob” Fryberger, Jr. has been named the next president and chief executive officer, succeeding Sandy Neves who announced her retirement effective June 30, 2017.
The board appointed Robert Fryberger as president/CEO, and Ms. Neves as emeritus chief executive officer, effective July 1, 2016, to ensure a smooth and seamless transition through Neves’ retirement next year.
Fryberger joined Fitzsimons Federal Credit Union in 1989 as accounting supervisor. Throughout his tenure he has held various senior positions, including chief financial officer and executive vice president. In 2014 he was promoted to president, where he was responsible for all areas of the credit union’s operations. He has more than 27 years of credit union and financial services expertise.
“After conducting a thorough succession planning process and evaluation, the board of directors is excited to have Robert Fryberger take the lead in carrying on Fitzsimons Federal Credit Union’s rich tradition of serving members,” said Board Chairman Lyle Artz.
“Bob has been an integral part of our success at Fitzsimons Federal Credit Union,” said Neves, “and I am enthused and optimistic about his being named as my successor to the position of president/CEO. We have worked closely for many years, and I am proud and confident that in this role he will carry forward the Fitzsimons vision of being the ‘recognized leader in our community by consistently delivering an exceptional partner experience.’”
Neves has overseen growth from $50 million in assets to $175 million in assets during her career with Fitzsimons FCU.
“The board and I are honored to have had the opportunity to work with Sandy over the years,” said Chairman Artz. “She has had a remarkable career and distinguished tenure, and her contributions to Fitzsimons Credit Union and the Credit Union System are immense and pave the way for us to continue to build for the future.”
Neves began her credit union career as a teller in 1981 with Fitzsimons Federal Credit Union and became its CEO in 1990. Neves was awarded Aurora’s Business Person of the Year in 2002 and selected to the Colorado Credit Union League’s Hall of Fame for Achievement in 2005.
