First Tech Now Live With Zelle P2P Offering Within Its Mobile App

BEAVERTON, Ore./MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif.–First Tech FCU said it has now gone live with Zelle in its mobile banking app.

With no additional app to download, Zelle enables person-to-person (P2P) payments for more than 110,000 First Tech mobile banking members.

“We are a credit union serving employees in the tech sector, so naturally our members have high expectations when it comes to their mobile banking experiences,” said Greg Mitchell, CEO, First Tech FCFU, in a statement. “Serving as an early adopter by offering full integration of Zelle in our mobile app, First Tech is leading the way in providing safe and convenient ways for our members to share funds with friends and family.”

According to the credit union, Zelle, a solution offered by Fiserv, allows for funds to be sent from one bank account to another typically in minutes, when both parties are enrolled, using only a recipient’s email address or mobile number.

“Send Money with Zelle” is conveniently available within the mobile banking apps of Zelle Network participants which include banks and credit unions of all sizes, the credit union said.

First Tech reminded it has long been a pioneer of digital banking experiences for its members and the credit union industry. In 1989, First Tech was one of the first banks and credit unions to offer online banking to its members, followed by a mobile banking solution in 2000. In 2013, it was one of the first credit unions to offer a native mobile app for all three smartphone platforms – iOS, Android and Windows Phone.

The $10.6-billion First Tech has approximately 488,000 members.
