ATLANTA–A man who robbed a credit union here wasn’t hard to identify–he signed his robbery note.
According to the Atlanta Police Department, Leon Robinson, 50, began his robbery by throwing a rock at a teller inside a branch of Georgia’s Own Credit Union. He then followed that with a note to the teller that read, “This is a stick up. I got a gun. Give me all your money and you won’t get hurt.”
According to APD, Robinson then signed the note on which he added that he was also an “urban camper.”
Robinson allegedly then fled the GOCU branch with an undisclosed amount of money before being confronted by an APD officer who fired one shot at Robinson after he appeared to be reaching for a gun, police said. That shot struck the bag Robinson was carrying and ricocheted into a window at the Imperial Hotel. Robinson was then taken down by an off-duty officer working an extra job nearby who used a Taser on the alleged robber. Robinson has been charged with armed robbery.
