First City Credit Union Suffers Possible Data Breach

ALTADENA, Calif.—The $888-Million First City Credit Union here has suffered a possible data breach, Business Insider reported.

The CU disclosed that it suffered a data breach that compromised the sensitive personal data of individuals, Business Insider said.

Business Insider said First City Credit Union became aware of a security incident involving unauthorized access to a portion of its email environment. Upon detection, FCCU launched an investigation with the assistance of third-party cybersecurity experts to determine the nature and scope of the incident.

The investigation confirmed that an unauthorized party had accessed personal information for a limited number of members. FCCU conducted a comprehensive review of the impacted data to determine what information was compromised.

Business Insider said FCCU filed a notice with the Attorney General of California On March 31. In that notice the CU said compromised data may have included names, addresses, driver's license numbers, and Social Security numbers.

The CU has sent letters to the impacted individuals, Business Insider said.
