NEW ORLEANS–The National Council of Firefighter Credit Unions said it has established an Ida Disaster Relief Fund primarily to help New Orleans Firemen’s FCU, which it said has been “severely affected” by the hurricane.
NCOFCU said the funds will be used in rebuilding efforts by the CU’s staff and volunteers.
“Many of the staff and volunteers have suffered significant losses, if not total losses, to their homes and property due to the heavy rains and flooding in the past week,” the group said.
As donations are deposited in the Ida Disaster Fund (IDACUDRF), NCOFCU, said it will coordinate with the credit unions board of directors and CEO to distribute money efficiently to affected credit union employees and volunteers.
