BELFAST, Maine — A credit union member here who was described in local media as having become “unglued” while waiting in the CU’s drive-through has lost her license and been given a fine.
Deanna Lenfest, 36, who had her three-year-old child with her in the car in February 2014 while waiting for the Down East Credit Union to open for the day, became upset at having to wait too long, according to the Bangor Daily News. Police said Lenfest was waiting to get money in order to buy diapers.
According to police, Lenfest got out of her car, walked up to the teller’s window and began to yell at the teller, the Bangor Daily News reported, before returning to her car, honking the horn repeatedly and screaming loudly and continuously.
Lenfest also went to the locked front door of the credit union and pounded on it, scaring the bank workers inside, the Bangor Daily News reported. Police said that when Belfast Police Officer Eric Kelley arrived, Lenfest not only did not calm down, but video from Kelley’s cruiser shows Lenfest trying to hit him with her Chevrolet Cavalier, causing him to leap out of the way. She struck the cruiser before driving away from the credit union, and Kelley pursued her through town, the Bangor Daily News said.
Lenfest was found guilty in Belfast District Court of disorderly conduct, criminal threatening and driving to endanger, was fined$775, and had her license suspended for 30 days.
