MADISON, Wis.—The Filene Research Institute’s first research report of 2024 has been released: “America’s Housing Journey: A Storymap on Credit Union’s Engagement with the Housing Crisis.”
“We’ve all read the headlines about increasing mortgage rates, a shortage of affordable housing options, and soaring housing prices that have outpaced the rise in income,” Filene said. “As mission-driven organizations, credit unions must determine how tackling the housing issue in their communities fits into their current social impact strategies.”
Filene said it is inviting credit unions to explore its new interactive storymap to see current trends in America’s housing journey and how research shows that credit unions can be catalysts for building stronger communities.
Additional Learning
In addition, Filene said the new report includes:
- Five forces driving America’s housing journey and its impact on housing well-being
- Graphical representation of the Housing Continuum model
- Seven case studies of credit unions supporting their community’s housing concerns
- Margin and mission implications for credit unions, with strategy guide
