Fighting Irish (CU) Vs. Trojan (CU) for Good Cause

LOS ANGELES— It’s Notre Dame vs. USC. But in this case it’s not the long-time football rivalry, which will be renewed when the Fighting Irish play later this month.

Instead, it’s USC Credit Union vs. Notre Dame FCU in a “$10,000 Charity Challenge,” which is taking place for the second year. Last year Notre Dame FCU President/CEO Tom Gryp challenged his counterpart at USCCU, Gary Perez, to see which credit union could acquire the most credit card applications, with each contributing $5,000 towards the prize.

In the end, USC Credit Union won and was able to award $10,000 to USC Troy Camp (mirroring the football team’s victory at Notre Dame). This year the challenge is to get the most auto loan applications before the USC vs. Notre Dame game Nov. 29, 2014. If it wins, USCCU said it will donate the funds to USC Good Neighbors, which provides financial support to university-community partnerships involving collaboration between USC faculty and staff and local nonprofit organizations that have a visible, positive impact on the neighborhoods surrounding the University Park and Health Sciences campuses.
