JACKSON, Miss.–Hope Credit Union will host an Economic Mobility Forum here on Feb. 7 at which the Federal Reserve’s vice chairman for supervision, Michael S. Barr, will offer a keynote address.
Hope Credit Union, which calls itself the nation’s leading Black- and women-owned community development financial institution, said the theme for the event at Jackson State University in Jackson, Miss., is “Banking on Financial Inclusion.”
The forum will focus on opportunities for the financial service industry to increase economic mobility by fostering greater financial inclusion, working to close the racial wealth gap, and supporting environmental sustainability, particularly in low-income places and communities of color, Hope CU stated.
In addition to Barr, others addressing the meeting will include Mayor Chokwe Antar Lumumba and other leaders with expertise on how to “advance greater financial inclusion and close the racial wealth gap, particularly in the Mississippi Delta and other regions throughout the Deep South that have experienced decades of under-investment.”
Also On Hand
In addition, in tandem with the event, the credit union said Hope Policy Institute, the research and policy arm of HOPE, will publish a new research report on fostering greater economic inclusion and closing the racial wealth gap.
In addition, HOPE CU said CEO Bill Bynum, as well as regional representatives, will also be on hand.
