MADISON, Wis. – Chuck Fagan has resigned as CEO of the Credit Union Executives Society in order to take over as CEO of Tampa, Fla.-based PSCU.

The resignation is effective April 10; Fagan will take over at PSCU on April 27.  Fagan was EVP of PSCU’s national sales and client relationship teams prior to joining CUES. At PSCU he will replace Mike Kelly, who resigned as CEO in early February. Tom Gandre has been acting CEO at PSCU since Kelly’s departure and will return to his role as EVP and COO.

“Our board is delighted to welcome Chuck back to PSCU,” said Mike Valentine, Chairman of PSCU’s Board of Directors. “Chuck is credit union through-and-through and is the right, seasoned, proactive leader to develop and execute PSCU’s vision for credit union success.”

Fagan spent 16 years at PSCU in a variety of capacities, including leading efforts in emerging payments technologies.

“I am grateful for the confidence that the board has in me and I am thrilled to be returning to PSCU,” said Fagan in a statement. “I learned the importance of delivering superior value to credit unions from PSCU’s first CEO Dave Serlo and I am humbled to step in and continue the rich tradition of service leadership that Dave initiated so many years ago. I’d also like to express my deep appreciation to CUES and the members of its board of directors for giving me an opportunity to lead the organization that continues to play such an important role in developing credit union talent.”

PSCU has more than 800 member-owner credit unions and services 18.5-million different accounts.

"We wish to thank Chuck for his leadership during the past two years, for the industry partnerships he has forged, and for his work in furthering CUES' position as the undisputed source of talent development for the industry's executives, boards and future leaders,” said CUES Chairman Caroline Willard in a released statement. “We are pleased that he will remain within the credit union movement, and we wish him well."

Willard, EVP-markets and strategy for CO-OP Financial Services, said an interim CEO will be named and a search will be launched.
