FHFA to Host Symposium on Community Development Financial Institutions

WASHINGTON—The Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA) will host a Federal Home Loan Bank (FHLBank) and Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI) Symposium in Washington on June 20.

The symposium follows a recommendation in FHFA’s ​​​FHLBank report released in November, which calls for increased FHLBank engagement with mission-oriented members.

According to the FHFA, the event will feature representatives from both CDFIs and the FHLBanks discussing topics that include:

  • FHLBank membership and programs
  • Appropriately measuring risk in CDFI lending
  • Innovative FHLBank and CDFI products and partnerships.

The Federal Housing Finance Agency recently released an update on implementation of recommendations for the Federal Home Loan Bank system from its FHLBank report published in November. According to the FHFA, the recommendations in the report are designed to ensure that the FHLBanks are well-positioned to continue delivering on their mission priorities, ACU noted.
