WASHINGTON—The Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA) has issued a final rule for the government sponsored enterprises (GSEs), Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, that establishes housing goals for 2022-2024.
The updated housing goals, first proposed by the FHFA in August, are designed to ensure the GSEs promote equitable access to affordable housing for low- and moderate-income families, minority communities, rural areas, and underserved populations, according to the organizations.
The rule also established two new single-family home purchase subgoals to replace existing low-income areas subgoal, one of which targets minority communities, while the other targets low-income neighborhoods.
