WASHINGTON—The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has announced the initial interim usage charges for subscriptions to the Reassigned Numbers Database (RND).
For credit unions, prior to placing a call, the caller may use the RND to determine whether a telephone number by which the caller intends to contact a credit union member has been reassigned to another individual or entity.
By making use of the RND, a credit union caller can substantially reduce its risk of placing unwanted calls that may lead to costly Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA) violations. The RND is presently being piloted in beta form at no cost to callers; the FCC anticipates the RND will go fully live on Nov. 1, NAFCU reported.
The FCC released the initial interim usage charges so that callers planning to use the RND may identify a plan most appropriate for their needs. The plans range from extra small to jumbo and are available in 1- 3- and 6-month subscription lengths. For info, view the plans here.
The FCC noted it expects to provide a more permanent program structure and rate schedule no sooner than January 1, 2023.
