Ex-Teller Pleads Guilty To Thefts

ROCHESTER, Minn.–A former credit union employee here has pleaded guilty to stealing nearly $13,000 from the CU.

Pamela Sue Ingvalson, 52, of Blooming Prairie, Minn. was charged in May 2016 with four counts of gross misdemeanor theft and one count of felony theft while working at Affinity Plus Credit Union. At the time, Ingvalson had been a teller with the credit union for eight years. She pleaded guilty in Olmsted County District Court to the gross misdemeanors; the felony count was dismissed, according to the Post Bulletin.

Ingvalson was immediately sentenced to 365 days in jail, stayed, and two years of supervised probation. She must also pay $12,879 in restitution.

The crime was uncovered following an internal audit of Ingvalson's cash drawer, which found money was missing, the complaint says. According to the complaint, when confronted, she admitted to taking money from her cash drawer, then accessing member accounts to balance her drawer in an attempt to hide the missing money.

Ingvalson said she had been taking money since 2013. After temporarily adjusting the balances of other members’ accounts to hide her thefts, Ingvalson would later credit the money back to them, the Post Bulletin reported.
