AZUSA, Calif.–Jolina Monique Sanchez, a former employee of Azusa City Employees CU, has been sentenced to almost three-and-a-half years behind bars for embezzling more than $270,000 from the credit union, MyNewsLA.com reported.
Sanchez, was also ordered to pay restitution of about $600,000 and serve five years of supervised release after she completes her 41-month federal prison term, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
Sanchez, 36, previously pleaded guilty in Los Angeles to federal counts of bank fraud and theft by a credit union employee. Sanchez was charged with 19 counts of theft by a credit union employee. She is accused of making 19 withdrawals ranging from $2,300 to $46,400 from March 2012 through May of 2013. The theft was not discovered until the end of 2013 during an audit conducted by NCUA.
NCUA issued a prohibition order against Sanchez in May of 2014.
Azusa CU is now part of Foothill Credit Union.
