HAVRE, Mont.– Peggy Teel has pleaded guilty to felony theft by embezzlement and stealing $130,000 from Bear Paw Credit Union.
The former CU employee stole money out of cash drawers and ATMs from January of 2007 through February of 2016. District Judge Daniel Boucher scheduled her sentencing for Oct. 17, the newspaper stated.
A vice president at the credit union had first reported his suspicions that someone was stealing earlier this year, according to the Flathead Beacon reported. Up to that point, he told police the belief was the money was missing due to problems with three ATMs. Once the ATMs were replaced, an additional investigation was begun and police said Teel confessed after being interviewed by police.
A plea agreement recommends Teel be given a three-year deferred sentence and immediately pay just over $68,000 in restitution, the Flathead Beacon reported.
