TOPEKA, Kan. –The former president of 1st Kansas Credit Union here has been sentenced following an earlier guilty plea to embezzlement.
Connie Marie Kent, 52, who formerly led 1st Kansas Credit Union (which was previously known as Post Office CU), was sentenced to three years on supervised release and has agreed to pay a restitution of $39,895, according to the office U.S. Attorney Stephen McAllister.
As CUToday.info previously reported, Kent pleaded guilty to one count of theft from a credit union in March of this year. Kent had faced a penalty of up to 30 years and a fine up to $1 million, according to the U.S. Attorney’s office.
The $9-million 1st Kansas CU has approximately 1,600 members.
