COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.–A former assistant manager at a credit union here has been sentenced to four years in prison for a long-running embezzlement scheme.
Rhonda K. Pohina, 39, was assistant manager at Harrison School District 2 Federal Credit Union, where she embezzled $170,000, according to prosecutors.
"This was a monumental betrayal of trust," said 4th Judicial District Chief Judge William Bain during the sentencing hearing.
In addition to the prison sentence, Pohina has also been ordered to repay $215,000 as the result of a plea agreement to a single count of felony theft. That amount includes $2,500 to be paid to the credit union to cover its insurance deductible.
