ERIE, Penn.–Erie Federal Credit Union is again helping workers who have lost their jobs at a local plant.
The credit union is offering special loan and forgiveness program to members who are now out of work as the result of the cutbacks by Erie Coke. Approximately 137 workers are affected.
Erie FCU said any of those workers can now apply for a lower interest loan or a break on a current debt, like loan or credit card payments.
“It’s always hard when whether it’s a shut down or whether it’s a strike or anything along those lines when you maybe have a government furlough,” said Erie FCU’s Lisa Loepp.
Previous Assistance
Erie FCU has offered similar assistance in the past, including earlier this year. As CUToday.info reported here, Erie FCU offered assistance to workers of Wabtec Corp., which manufactures brakes, when they were on strike, and it has also extended assistance to local teachers during a walkout.
