Enjoy Long Walks On The Beach? A ‘Dating App’ For CU Staff, Members

ADALAIDE, Australia–Are you a lending officer who enjoys long walks on the beach? Or a branch manager who prefers quiet nights with white wine and a good book? Then perhaps you will want to join the executive team at Credit Union Australia.

Credit Union Australia has launched a new dating-style app that enables customers to chat with bankers of their choice. The app features photos and profiles of its bankers and, like a dating app, includes details of their personal interest, according to AdelaideNow.com.

After carrying out a pilot program, CUA has now rolled out the app widely, making it available to all of its 500,000 banking and health insurance members, the publication noted.

The app isn’t just limited to members; perspective members may also use the service.

The app, called iM CUA, allows users to search the pool of banker profiles, choose their personal banker and chat with them directly using messenger functions on their smartphones.

CUA chief Rob Goudswaard told AdelaideNow.com the trial, which involved 1000 people, included staff and their families, using an Apple iPhone 5 or later versions of the phone.

“You pick your staff member (to connect with) and they are real people,’’ he told the publication. “When you do that, you can communicate with them whichever way it is you choose — face-to-face, by phone, SMS, whatever it might be. These are real people, they are not robots ... we have found that so far 98% of Australians are happy with an SMS — you don’t have to ring, you don’t have to wait on the phone.”
