INDIANAPOLIS–Two credit unions have named new CEOs.
Energy Plus Credit Union has named a new CEO. The $33-million EPCU has named Cari Palmer as its president/CEO, succeeding Scott Armstrong, who has moved to another credit union.
“Being a part of the credit union movement has been such a blessing, and I’m thrilled to get the opportunity to take on this new adventure,” Palmer said in a statement. “I hope to carry on the EPCU mission and work with the staff and board to continue to grow the credit union and serve our members.”
Palmer has been with Energy Plus CU since 2008, most recently as vice president where she has been primarily responsible for operations. She is active in credit union advocacy initiatives and is currently the chairman of ICUPAC (Indiana Credit Union Political Action Committee), and is a member of the Indiana League’s Political Involvement Leadership Advisory Committee, Emerging Leadership Advisory Group, and Events Committee.
Palmer is an alumna of the League’s ignite program, and she was the recipient of the League’s Emerging Leadership Award in 2014.
Meanwhile, in Lockport, N.Y., Eric Hepkins has been named CEO of Cornerstone Community FCU here. Hepkins will succeed Ann Hood, who's retiring on Feb. 28 after 34 years with the credit union.
Hepkins joins Cornerstone after working at HSBC, where he was senior vice president, U.S. head of retail transformation and streamlining. He's also a former head of retail banking for Evans Bank.
"The board and I are delighted that Eric will be joining us to lead Cornerstone. His background, experience and education will make him an excellent addition to our management team. He will be a great leader for our employees," said Board Chairman David Nemi in a statement reported first by the Lockport Union Sun & Journal.
As CEO, Hepkins will oversee operation of the $423-million Cornerstone's five branches throughout Niagara County.
"I am incredibly honored, and deeply humbled, to join the Cornerstone family," Hepkins said in the statement. "Cornerstone really has a rare combination of a passion for family, amazingly talented people, and an undying dedication to member service. The organization has had outstanding leadership over the past 20 years, and is well-positioned to continue building on a model of sustainable, community-focused growth."
